Indie Head Massage

Indie Head Massage is an ancient practice that began in India over 500 years ago. It is a form of massage based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing systems, which focuses on the muscles and connective tissues of the face, neck, scalp, upper back and shoulder area. The techniques used, which originated over 100 years ago in East Indian culture, are both soothing and invigorating at the same time. Indie Head Massage is used to reduce stress and improves tissue health and circulation. Techniques are aimed at promoting relaxation while effectively easing muscle pain. It is especially useful in treating headaches and migraines. It has a balancing effect on the nervous system and it helps to release stress and tension creating a sense of peace.

*Please note: Traditionally, indie head massage involves warm oil being poured directly on the scalp, leaving hair and scalp covered in oil. I personally do NOT apply this warm oil application, although I do add doterra essential oils to this treatment for added aromatherapy benefits.

Aromatherapy Massage

Create an even more relaxing massage with the benefits of doterra essential oils added to treatment.

Stretch Therapy

Performance Stretch System is a floor based assisted stretching treatment designed to improve mobility, flexibility, and performance. It is a fusion of Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST), Thai Massage, yoga, and martial arts.

RockTape & RockPods (Kinesiology Taping & Cupping)
RockTape application techniques are applied with an emphasis on taping fascial lines of the body to improve movement and enhance function. Kinesiology tape interfaces with the mechanical, chemical and neurosensory sub-systems of fascia by increasing the interstitial fluid dynamics to promote healing.

Commonly Treated Conditions

  • Chronic low back pain

  • Strains and Sprains

  • Edema

  • Scars

  • Posture

  • Sports performance

  • Pregnancy

What to Expect

Your massage appointment will begin with a review of your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle. Together we will create a treatment plan that will work for you and your needs. (If this is your first appointment, please arrive approximately 10 minutes early to complete paperwork and to allow for consultation).

Once the treatment plan has been discussed, the RMT will instruct the client how to get on the massage table with clean linens, and leave the room allowing the client to undress in private. Skin on skin contact is best, however, please leave on any article of clothing that would make you feel more comfortable. We will work around anything you decide to leave on.

After a few minutes, giving the client time to get on the table and allowing the RMT to wash their hands, the RMT will knock on the door and ask permission to re-enter. Once the RMT is back in the treatment room, the RMT will adjust anything on the table to make you feel more comfortable. We may adjust pillows, the face cradel, or the blanket. If you are ever too hot or too cold throughout treatment, please let us know.

Typically we will have relaxing music playing in the background but if you prefer to enjoy your time in silence, also let us know.

When you are comfortable and ready, your therapist will undrape the area to be worked on and only that area. Once the therapist is finished working on the area, it will be redraped. A light lotion will be applied to your skin and pressure is at the clients discretion. If pressure is ever too much, or not enough, again, please let us know. You have the right to stop or terminate treatment at any time, no questions asked, however, if your therapist terminates treatment they will tell you why.

Remember, feedback is always encouraged!

When treatment has finished your therapist will tell you so and instruct you to take your time getting off the table, nice and slow as some people may feel lightheaded or dizzy. If you do feel these symptoms, remain seated on the table and let your feet dangle until you feel better. This sensation should pass quickly. You may feel wonderful post treatment, however in the next day or two you may feel achy or sore. This is normal for some people. Your therapist will recommend homecare for you. Homecare allows you to take an active part in your treatment plan between treatments with the therapist.

Certain conditions may require a more timely treatment plan, however, 4-6 weeks is typical for general maintenance.
